  6. Had the opportunity to visit Romania about 4 years ago. The castle was high on our list. We were not disappointed at all. Very interesting and very well maintained. The shopping stalls outside the castle offered quite a few traditional Romanian articles as well as refreshments.

The real and authentic Vlad was a hero to many Romanians, Hungarians, Slavs, etc. The only reason Stoker was able to fictionalize his life was due to the abundance of ignorance and the obsessive need for drama in the human mind. As a Romanian, I greatly appreciate those efforts to defend his honor: but please keep your mouth shut until you have educated yourself properly.

I’ve been in romania about 15 times I have slept in Bran ( not in the castle but about 0.5 km distance in a house ) with my friends and classmates 🙂 I want to tell you that actually Dracula is a brand for Romania to draw atention of the foreign people… this story is based on a real fact.. he was ill (some exotic desease…) and he drank kinf of medicine based on the blood of buks… He was the king of Moldova… actually a part of Romania and Rep. Moldova

I’me amazed about these stories about the Bran castle,i live in brasov and i can say that i have relatives who are the guides of the bran castle so i know the whole truth about Vlad Tepes…and these comments are made by people who don’t know the real history..

  22. i’ve decided to tell you the history about Dracula:The legend about Vlad Tepes(1431-1476)a leader of the Romanian country(Tara Romaneasca)famous for his cruelty in punishing the stealth and the flam remarks that he had the custom to eat from the meat and the blood of his enemies. This legend was made up by the saxons in the Chronicles of the Saxons due to de conflicts between these and Vlad Tepes. His daemonisation was made by the irish Bram Stocker who transforrmed Vlad Tepes into a vampire named Dracula. The name Vlad Tepes is related to the Bran Castle it’s considered in a fallaciously way that is the Castle of Dracula. In the book Dracula the plot is happening in Bistrita probably in Rodnei Pitch not by any manner of means in Tara Barsei. The name of Dracula is the resultant of Draculea wich was carried because he was the son of Vlad the Devil (Vlad Dracul),a leader of the Romanian Country(Tara Romaneasca) from the Basarbian dinasty. He was wearing black clothes and a medallino reprezenting Saint George fighting with a dragon or a devil, from here comes the name Vlad the devil (Vlad Dracul). This medallion was weared by the knights of an order made by the king of Hungary Sigismund of Luxemburg in 1438.
